Community Style Acupuncture
Recently, perhaps as a result of changes in the economy, we at Imperial Healing Arts
have found that there is a great demand for low-cost acupuncture, performed by
licensed acupuncturists in a professional, clean, and safe setting. In response to this
need, we have designated special hours for Community Style Acupuncture (CSA).
This model allows for several people to receive acupuncture treatment at the same
time, thus keeping costs very low. At this time, we are offering these special clinic
hours to students, recent graduates, and those who are unemployed.
What is Community Style Acupuncture (CSA)?
Typically, CSA involves several people in one room receiving acupuncture at the same
time. This is commonly seen in Asian countries and it is thought that the shared "qi" of
the group helps everyone to heal. During CSA hours, one room in our office will be
dedicated to the treatment of up to four people at once.
How does CSA work?
Up to four people are seated in chairs in a treatment room. Everyone is fully clothed,
and we only use acupuncture points on the arms, legs, and head. After a brief intake,
needles are placed, and then you are left to relax for up to 30 minutes. During this
time, you may sleep, daydream, or speak quietly with others in the room. Your whole
appointment will last for about 50 minutes.
What are the benefits of CSA?
There are several reasons why CSA may be beneficial to you. Many people find that
the shared atmosphere of healing and relaxation is very supportive to the healing
process. CSA makes it convenient for family members or friends to come for
acupuncture together. Also, the low cost allows people to come frequently without
incurring a great expense.
When are the CSA hours at Imperial Healing Arts?
Fridays, from 11:00am - 3:00pm.
What is the cost of CSA?
We strive to make low-cost acupuncture available to those who need it. The cost is
based on a sliding scale, from $20 - $40. You are welcome to pay what you wish
within this range. There is an additional $10 charge for the first visit for those who are
new to the office. Herbs may be recommended for you, at an additional cost. Please
note that payment for CSA is by CASH ONLY.
Where is the office?
We are pleased to offer CSA right in our Imperial Healing Arts office. The office is
located at: 57 West 57th Street, Suite 1109, in Manhattan. The building is near the
corner of 6th Avenue. The closest trains are the F (57th & 6th), N / R / Q / W (57th
&7th), and A / B / C / D / 1 (Columbus Circle).
What kinds of conditions are best treated with CSA?
You may come to the Community Acupuncture Hours for any condition. Because of
the group environment of CSA, most people find that they are most comfortable
coming for conditions such as pain, headaches and migraines, anxiety, stress,
depression, digestive issues, urinary problems, detoxification, smoking cessation,
allergies, asthma, and common colds. If you are interested in CSA for a specific
condition not listed here, please ask us!
Can I still come for regular appointments?
Yes, definitely! You can come for any combination of private appointments and
community acupuncture appointments that works for you.
How do I make an appointment? Who can I contact with additional questions?
